In VTTA events, the winner is the rider who has recorded the best time after an adjustment for age and gender. In this way men and women compete on a level playing field no matter what their age happens to be. If you beat your “standard” you have a PLUS, the value of which is simply the difference between your actual time and your “standard” as determined by your age and gender, if you fail to beat your “standard” then your PLUS is a negative value.
The current standards for each age can be found on the National VTTA website.
Individual Standards Awards
For a small fee (as shown on the current membership form) you can enter the season long Individual Standards Awards system at all distances. The system for claiming standards is currently being updated and will allow members who have registered for standards to claim online. The process for doing this will be notified in due course.
The East Anglian Committee decided that due to the changes in standards in recent years , and the restricted competition due to COVID, all standards history will be ignored, and all members registering for standards will be awarded standards based on their best 2021 pluses. In other words everyone starts with a clean sheet from which future standards will be calculated.
