In the VTTA National 25 championship on June 9th, promoted\nby the Group and ably organised, as ever, by John Golder in the finest\ntradition of Nugget promotions, East Anglian riders benefited from home\nadvantage and local knowledge of the E2\/25 \u2013 in less than benign mood on this\noccasion \u2013 to come away with a good haul of medals.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the individual\nchampionships, Jackie Field took silver with 57:20 giving a plus of 17:24, whilst\nPeter Horsnell, with a plus of 18:53, took the Group\u2019s second individual\nchampionship bronze of the season, Andy Grant, fourth on this occasion, having\ntaken bronze in the 10 championship back in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter led Jackie and Andy to the Group team championship \u2013 a reprise of their achievement in 2017, (below, 2017 when Peter took individual gold, <\/em><\/strong>photo Kimroy)<\/em><\/strong> the last time the championship was held on the E2 \u2013 but this time with a combined plus some 51\/2 <\/sup> minutes slower in 54:55, testifying to the difficult conditions.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cambridge CC (below, photo Davey Jones)<\/em><\/strong> also reprised their 2017 win in the club team championship, with Andy Grant, Chris Dyason and Martin Reynolds\u2019 aggregate plus of 52:15, nearly three minutes clear of a3crg, their nearest challengers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the tandem event the formidable new pairing of Ian Greenstreet and Rachael Elliott not only took the gold medal but also set a new national competition record for a mixed tandem at 25 miles in 47.09. They are shown below with John Golder the event organiser. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

National\nVTTA Chairman Andrew Simpkins reported as follows on the VTTA web site: The new 2019 national champions at 25 miles\nare Kevin Tye and Angela Carpenter. Kevin took the men’s title by 17 seconds on\nstandard plus time from Keith Ainsworth with the evergreen Peter Horsnell\nin bronze medal position. For the women, Angela followed up on her 10 mile\nchampionship win with another gold medal. Jackie Field took silver and Deb\nHutson-Lumb bronze.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The local contingent did\nwell with East Anglian taking the Group championship and Cambridge CC the club\nchampionship.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held on a breezy if bright\nand sunny Sunday morning, times were not the fastest but there were still a\nnumber of sub 50 minute rides with the fastest being James Rix in 48.07. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to John Golder and\nhis team for excellent organisation of the championship.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
