In VTTA events, the winner is the rider who has recorded the best time after an adjustment for age and gender. In this way men and women compete on a level playing field no matter what their age happens to be. If you beat your “standard” you have a PLUS, the value of which is simply the difference between your actual time and your “standard” as determined by your age and gender, if you fail to beat your “standard” then your PLUS is a negative value.
The current standards for each age can be found on the National VTTA website.
Individual Standards Awards
For a small fee (currently £10 for 2018 season) you can enter the season long Individual Standards Awards system at all distances. This fee should be sent to the Group Secretary. The claim form can be downloaded from either the forms page of this Group Website or the National website.
At the end of the season you should send the completed form to the Group Recorder together with copies of the relevant result sheets by 18th October. In the first year you will be presented with a medal for all the relevant distances at which you have raced. In subsequent years you will only receive a medal for the distances at which you have improved your standard plus. You will receive a plaque if you achieve a plus at 3 or more distances.
